Throughout our history, Enterphase Child & Family Services (E.C.F.S.) has attempted to successfully address the ever-changing needs of the community, specifically in respect to that of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged individual(s) and their families. It has become evident that the “needs” have often outgrown many of the traditional services available…
Live-in programs
Our staff model residences service clients whose needs require 24 hour support and supervision. Residents of our staff homes have demonstrated a need for a more structured treatment setting. They generally have been unable to function in a less structured environment such as foster care and typically need to work through trauma based issues and develop inter-personal strengths, coping strategies and anger management skills. Within the Treatment Milieu, Enterphase has avoided traditional “group programming” in preference of a more normalized and individualized living circumstance.
Resource/Residence/Day Treatment Goals:
- A commitment to fully utilize the Enterphase Clinical Support Resources in developing the most effective, individualized treatment modes in consultation with our Psychiatrist, Psychologists and Therapists.
- To emphasize the strengths and uniqueness of each student, and, as such, individualize his/her treatment plan in terms of those needs.
- Ensure that all individual(s) feel cared for; their sense of self dignity is preserved, as is their need for personal space and privacy.
- Ensure that staff are committed to openness, listening with kindness and empathy to the hurt that many individual(s) have endured.
- Ensure that our day treatment programming is conducive to providing a stimulating and structured academic environment that addresses both behavioural and academic needs.
- Ensure that all students placed within the Enterphase Day Treatment Classes are provided with a treatment oriented academic program and as such allow for the provision of an education complimented through treatment goals.
- Ensure that program/day treatment assessment, program planning, program delivery and evaluation occur in consultation with the individual(s) parents or guardian.
- That all staff are supportive and acknowledge that effective change takes place through knowledge and communication. In essence, committed to helping youngsters discuss and effectively deal with major life issues in a positive manner.
- That all of our staff are academically trained Child & Youth Workers, fully trained in U.M.A.B. (Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviors); First Aid and CPR certified; Fire, Safety & Security, Clinical Development certified, having a working knowledge of Anger Management and impulse control techniques.
The following is a brief description of the ten Enterphase treatment residences:
2 Residences for latency and adolescent females:
- adolescent females (most often 9-18 years of age)
- assists adolescents who have experienced a variety of abuse life experiences and relationships and require a structured, treatment oriented, and caring environment.
- this residence serves adolescents with trauma issues, personality disorders, learning disabilities, exaggerated emotional and behavioural difficulties stemming from and parental abuse, neglect, and deprivation.
6 Residences for latency and adolescent males:
- upper latency males (most often 4-18 years of age)
- assists adolescents who have experienced a variety of abuse life experiences and relationships and require a structured, treatment oriented, and caring environment.
- this residence serves individual(s) dealing with trauma issues, A.D.D. and A.D.H.D., personality disorders, learning disabilities, exaggerated emotional and behavioural difficulties stemming from and parental abuse, neglect, and deprivation.
1 Residence for individual(s) with developmental and emotional disabilities:
- this program serves individual(s) dealing with developmental disabilities including autism and P.D.D.
- it is staffed 7 days a week, 24 hours a day with awake staff.
- this program houses only three residents; thus allowing for more individual time and planning for each client.
1 Residence for individual(s) transitioning to independence:
- this program is a 4 bed tri-plex located in downtown Oshawa with easy access to public transportation, shopping and laundry mats.
- it is designed for individual(s) from the Live-In Program who have completed their treatment or for individual(s) that have been identified as requiring a smaller setting with less stimulation in order to complete their treatment goals.
- this program will emphasis individualized treatment planning and independence training.
